It’s Time to Upgrade Your Google Analytics Account

“Universal Analytics will no longer process new data in standard properties beginning July 1, 2023” is what I’m being reminded as I log in to check my Google Analytics data.

Universal Analytics is the previous version of Google Analytics and is being discontinued in favor of Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Google has announced that Universal Analytics will eventually be phased out and that new features and updates will only be available in GA4. Google is discontinuing Universal Analytics as part of its broader effort to move towards a more privacy-focused approach to data collection and analysis. GA4 includes a number of features and tools that help businesses respect user privacy, such as the ability to automatically mask or delete sensitive data.

One of the noteworthy features of GA4 is its ability to track cross-device and cross-platform interactions. This allows businesses to see how users interact with their website or app across different devices and platforms, including web, iOS, Android, and others. GA4 also collects data from a wide range of sources, including events, pageviews, and user properties, and processes this data in real-time to provide insights and recommendations to businesses. It uses machine learning algorithms to analyze data and provide insights that can help businesses better understand their customers and optimize their marketing efforts.

In addition to these features, GA4 is also integrated with other Google products, such as Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform, and Google BigQuery, making it easier for businesses to analyze and act on their data.

If you have a Universal Analytics account and are ready to switch to GA4, you can create a new GA4 property within your existing Google Analytics account. Simply sign in to your account, click on the “Admin” tab, go to “Property” and then follow the steps using the “GA4 Setup Assistant”. Once your GA4 property has been created, you will need to install the GA4 tracking code on your website or mobile app.

GA4 is a game-changing analytics platform that offers a wide range of features and tools for businesses. It’s more flexible and scalable than Universal Analytics, making it a no-brainer for businesses looking to get a comprehensive view of their customers and how they interact with their products and services. So why wait? Upgrade to GA4 and start getting the insights you need to take your business to the next level.
